Thailand Inspired Dinner Party

Think Thailand and you imagine the ancient temples in Chiang Mai, the Chao Praya River reflecting the glow of the Wat Arum temple during warm evenings, white sandy beaches and blazing sunsets, Bangkok’s chaotic traffic, graceful bamboos, and the history rich sacred city of Ayuthaya. The food is glorious too! Hot and sour soup with shrimp, sumptuous fried rice with crab, Thai summer rolls, and the heavenly mango ice-cream. You can bring Thailand to your home in your next dinner party.

Recreate the Culture

Dinner party ideas can be successfully executed if carefully planned; and if you have been giving dinner parties with the same food and party theme, it is about time to try something exciting to delight your guest or better yet, surprise them with a Thai dinner party.

An element essential to a captivating Thai themed dinner party is the setting. Do not plunk the food on serving dishes and convince your guest you are having a Thai dinner party this way. Your guests will surely go home unimpressed.

The Table

Dinner party ideas always bring focus to table preparation. For your Thai dinner party, use an embroidered (if available) green or red silk runner to give the table the exotic Asian look that echoes the mystic of the East. Bamboo placemats in their natural color will enhance the vibrant silk runner.

As a centerpiece, orchids floating in low celadon or jade green vases and scented candles arranged beautifully will perfectly perk up your table. You can also arrange shiny pebbles on or around the vases. For table napkins, use raffia tied with ribbon matching the color of your table runner. For music, find Thai traditional instrumental music to enhance the ambiance of the setting.

Lighting

The dining area should not be brightly lit but illuminated with soft lighting to dramatize the scent of incense and heighten the Thai inspired dinner. Setting and lighting makes the dining experience a delightful one.

Food and Drinks

Thai party dinner ideas for the festive fare is not complete without rice and Thailand’s famous spices – curry, cayenne pepper, saffron, cilantro, and chili powder. Some Thai recipes can be easily prepared in advanced or brought in stores. You have several choices, pork, poultry, noodles, fish, and greens.

The flavors range from hot, sour, sweet, bitter or salty and the food is prepared with the freshest ingredients. When choosing the menu select ingredients available in Thai food specialty shops or order the more tricky recipes from Thai restaurants.

For the drinks, you can introduce Thai Iced Tea to the women, a sweet concoction of black tea, evaporated milk, sugar, cinnamon, cardamon, and tons of crushed ice. For the gentlemen, give them the full bodied Singha Beer and they’ll get a kick out of it.

Use a Thai theme for your next dinner party and enjoy the compliments that are guaranteed to flow your way. It is easier than you think.

Thai food offers a variety of flavors and taste. all Thai food is made with the subtle mixture of herbs and spices. Thus, Thai food is widely known for being hot and spicy.

A basic Thai meal includes the following: the staple is rice which is accompanied by a quantity of dishes. There will be a soup, a curry, a steamed or fried dish, a salad and two or more basic sauces. While breakfast includes fresh fruits and a variety of traditional sweets.

Thai food differs from region to region. In the central region people prefer mostly steamed food, which includes fresh water fish and fresh vegetables. Thai food like noodles is very popular in Bangkok and two can see tourists enjoying their fare at road side eateries. In the northern region people prefer milder food when compared with other regions of Thailand. The influence of neighboring Burma is more in case of food habits in northern Thailand. Most dishes are prepare using tamarind, turmeric and ginger.

In the southern region coconut plays a predominant role. Coconut is used in all the dishes. The southern people use coconut in various ways. they use coconut milk, oil and meat. The coconut milk is used to temper the heat of chili laced soups and it is also used in curries. The coconut oil is used for frying and they use the meat of coconut for garnishing and decorating food items and this gives an added taste to the food.

In ancient days, Thais used to eat the food with their bare hands but now due modernization and influences of western countries, people use forks and spoon to eat rice and chopsticks are used to eat noodles.

Thai food Ingredients garlic

Garlic (gra-tium): Fresh garlic is a key ingredient for many Thai dishes, including curry paste, which incorporates up to 30 small cloves in a paste. Also use in stir-fry, first smashing the clove with the side of a heavy knife, before adding to hot oil. Stir once and then add the remaining ingredients called for in your stir-fry recipe

About Garlic

Known as the stinking rose. The edible bulb is made up of sections called cloves, that are encased in a parchmentlike membrane. Three major varieties are available in the US: the white-skinned strongly flavored American garlic; Mexican and Italian garlic, which have mauve-colored skins and a somewhat milder flavor; and the white-skinned, mild flavored elephant garlic, which is not a true garlic, but a relative of the leek. Green garlic, is young garlic before it begins to form cloves; resembling a baby leek, with a long green top and white bulb. Garlic’s essential oils remain in the body long after consumption, affecting breath and even skin odor.

Ingredient

Season: available year-round

How to select: Choose firm, plump bulbs with dry skins. Avoid soft or shriveled cloves and garlic stored in the refrigerated section of the produce department.

How to store: Store fresh garlic in an open container in a cool, dark place. Unbroken bulbs can be stored up to 8 weeks. Once broken from the bulb, individual cloves will keep 3-10 days.

How to prepare: Crushed, chopped, pressed, pureed, minced or roasted

Matches well with: beans, beef, beets, cabbage, chicken, eggplant, fish, lamb, lentils, mushrooms, pasta, pork, potatoes, rice, shellfish, spinach, tomatoes, zucchini

Not every Thai noodle dish is Pad Thai! This noodle dish is a staple in the Thai restaurants I

have visited, and it is my daughter’s favorite menu item. there’s four secrets to this dish. The
first is to use fresh rice noodles. we are difficult for me to find but in most cities any nice Asian
grocery should either have them or be able to order them. I don’t think anyone sells them online
because we are so perishable.

Ingerdients

½ pound chicken or pork sliced thin
2 tablespoons oil for stir-frying (I use peanut oil)
4 fresh garlic cloves, peeled and chopped fine
4 tablespoons regular soy sauce
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons dark, black or sweet soy sauce (different names for the same product)
1 pound fresh rice noodles, or dried rice noodles if fresh is not available
1 pound Chinese broccoli, mustard greens or regular broccoli
2 eggs, lightly beaten

Soak the fresh rice noodles in warm water to start them to separate, drain them and soak

them in a little extra dark soy sauce (not included in the two tablespoons above). This should
color the noodles a bit.

Heat a wok to high heat and add the oil and heat it up. Stir fry the garlic until it just turns

color, then add the meat and stir fry it until all the pink disappears.

Add the noodles and broccoli and toss gently to cover them with the oil and meat. Cook

until all is heated through, then add the regular soy sauce, dark soy sauce and sugar. Again,
heat everything through then add the eggs this way: Use a wok spatula to lift the noodles off of
the side or bottom of the pan and pour in the two beaten eggs and let the noodles down and
cover the eggs. Let the eggs set until they are just about dried out then fold in the eggs with all

As the Thai population grows in the USA so does the number of Thai restaurants. In most larger cities you will find it easy to have a selection of Thai restaurants to pick from.Thai food offers you a wide variety flavors & taste. Most Thai dishes are made with a blend of herbs & spices. Some people feel Thai food may be considered a little spicy but always tasty.

First, a typical Thai meal includes: rice & it will be accompanied by plenty of dishes. There will be a soup, a curry, steam or fried fish , a very tasty salad, & plenty of sauces to dip the food. A Thai breakfast usually includes a wide assortment of fresh fruits & some small sweet treats.

Third, In the central region the people tend to eat steamed foods. This is usually made up of fresh-water fish & fresh vegetables. Noodles are very popular & restaurants are seen all over this region serving bowls of steaming noodles. In Bangkok plenty of stands can be seen serving these steaming dishes.

Secondly, in the southern region of Thailand coconut plays a very important part in dining. Coconut is used in all of the dishes. The coconut is used in plenty of different ways. If you mix it in the soup it takes a number of the heat out of what would be a very spicy soup. it is used in most curries. All foods are fried in coconut oil. The meat is used to garnish food or chopped up to enhance the taste of the food.

Lastly, in the northern region, people tend to eat their food with milder seasoning, compared to the rest of Thailand.
